Earlier today, I joined a friend for a long afternoon filled with homemade tacos, good wine and a massive organizing project: streamlining her closet. After a complete overhaul that spanned nearly four hours, I felt motivated to return home and reorganize my ever-growing collection of magazines and old catalogs (though one could argue that I really do need all eleven backdated J.Crew Style Guides). With a clutter-free coffee table and a portfolio filled with new pages of inspiration, I’m feeling inspired to keep plugging away at my Spring cleaning quest – and hopefully tackling the dreaded thought of organizing my computer’s overwhelmingly large photo collection.

Lately, I’ve grown increasing obsessed with the notion of lacing my hiking boots (of which I don’t own) and climbing a daunting mountain around the world. Oddly enough, I’ve never been hiking (or camping) a day in my life, unless you count Runyon Canyon, the celebrity-filled trail in L.A. that I’ve walked a few times with friends. Half Dome at Yosemite National Park and Machu Picchu in Peru pretty much top my list at this point, both of which will provide a great build up to my hopeful dream of someday conquering Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

While I love salads in any shape or form, I sometimes find myself a bit blasé with the same old rotation of lettuce combinations. So thankfully, when a co-worker introduced me to Mark Bittman’s 101 Simple Salads, I excitedly salivated at the notion of mixing things up a bit and discovering new blends that I wouldn’t have imagined on my own. Since my refrigerator happened to be overflowing with both peaches and avocados (something I love adding to any recipe when possible), I couldn’t wait to race home and try number two on his list for tonight’s dinner. The juxtaposition of onions, tomatoes, cilantro and lemon vinaigrette provided just enough punch to create a light and efreshing recipe that will certainly tide me through the warmer temperatures.

When the world is madly spinning, there’s only four people that I can quietly stand next to and know that everything is going to be okay — my parents, my sister and you. Thanks for being my partner in crime (and for those comforting forehead kisses that magically melt away life’s little nuances).

This entire week, my beau’s away on business and I’ll be holding down the fort in Chicago. While I never like spending extended periods of time apart, I think that missing each other can also be kind of nice. Luckily, we had a wonderful weekend in the desert and nearly every minute of my upcoming week is bustling with fun little activities with my girlfriends, including a happy hour that I’m hosting (I plan on concocting these), a trip to Zara (their Spring collection is out of this world) and a long run in preparation for next week’s Pittsburgh Marathon (complete with good music and a post-workout visit to the sauna).

Today was absolutely flawless from start to finish. The bride literally took my breath way as she walked down the aisle arm-in-arm with her father (my jaw dropped over her gorgeous and billowy dress — sheer perfection) and every detail of the evening had a touch of elegance, togetherness and celebration (especially the heartfelt speeches, lively dance floor and dapper groomsmen). Thank you, Lizzie and Ryan, for allowing me to share in your special day. I wish you both nothing but incredible happiness and look forward to being a part of your lives for years to come.
