There is no time of the year that evokes more positive memories for me than summer.  The long, sunny days, wonderfully warm weather and pungent smell of outdoor barbecues all contribute to the delight of the season.  This afternoon, as I passed by a sidewalk garden shop, I couldn’t help but reminisce about my mom’s ritual of replanting the flower beds around our home each June.  She always made our gardens look so pretty and I can still clearly envision her smiling and humming as she planted a fresh batch of bright and colorful perennials while my sister and I swam in the pool.  Even though I don’t have outdoor space at my new place, I couldn’t help but buy one small container to brighten up my kitchen and make me fondly think of my mom each morning as I pour my coffee.
